On Tuesday 09-06-11, we had an armed suicidal subject who became involved in a pursuit after shooting at police. There was at least a dozen PD’s involved. The vehicle left the roadway and came to stop in an open field. We suspected the actor shot himself, but we were not sure.
We were the only department with shields. Both shields were deployed so officers could safely approach the vehicle. Actor was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
If we did not have the shields, it would have turned into a long standoff until SWAT would have responded. Happy to report no police personnel were injured.
I have already asked the Chief if we could get two more shields. The lightweight shield makes all the difference in the world, now guys want to use them. Thanks for the great product.
